Empowerment

Enabling women in a society that does not systemically set them up for success, is a core passion of ours.
Our efforts to enable women in need focus on:

      Single and abandoned mothers

      Widows

We help women in need with not just financial help but also assistance with finding employment, help with starting self-employment, and their children’s education.
Example: Sponsoring an autorickshaw for an aspiring female autorickshaw driver who was in a dire financial situation. We also helped repay some of her debt in addition to the autorickshaw.

Subhashini is an auto driver and she is in this field for the last 7 years.

She is a single mother and has 2 daughters and a son. Her children are pursuing their studies. Subhashini was paying Rs.300 per day for renting the autorickshaw to drive, and it was extremely difficult for them to manage their monthly expenses.

We have raised funds and contributed an autorickshaw for her, and also helped her with some financial aid. She had borrowed Rs.2 lakhs from a private person for her kids’ studies and family expenses 5 years back. She was paying Rs.14,000 per month for the last five years. She didn’t pay interest for some of the months during lockdowns.

In addition to buying her an autorickshaw from raised funds, we have also raised funds to help Subhashini pay her debts. We collected Rs.2,24,176 and paid Rs.2.3 lakhs to the debtor.

Subhashini is now free of debt and drives her own autorickshaw. Her children are doing well in their studies.
