Visually challenged support

Many visually challenged persons sell small products like toys, cellphone covers, or food on local trains. They operate on a shoestring budget and make a tiny margin that barely covers their food and housing needs.

We help these people by sponsoring specific amounts of inventory.

We also help visually challenged children, and children of visually challenged parents, by sponsoring their education directly.

Elumalai is the founder of Voice Of The Visually Challenged, Charitable Trusts for Blind in the Chennai. Lots of visually challenged people are registered under this organization to get some benefits.

Most of the visually challenged are not able to pay their rent due to pandemic situation. They don’t have any idea when the situation will come back to normal. Most of the visually challenged people are doing the business in the local passenger train.

They don’t have any alternative job and no one is supporting to get the job.

During the COVID lockdowns, we also provided direct financial aid to visually challenged persons in need, since non-operational trains impacted their livelihoods.

We have successfully completed a continuous eight months of contribution to eight months to 70 visually challenged people’s families. Each donor has sent Rs.3000 per month for continuous eight months to the beneficiaries.

Through this initiative,

● 65 visually challenged people got benefited for 8 months.
● 2 visually challenged people got benefited for 7 months.
● 3 visually challenged people got benefited for 6 months, five months, and 3 months respectively.
● We have totally donated Rs.16.44 lakhs to 70 visually challenged people’s families.

Many visually challenged persons sell small products like Burfi/Candy and Agarbathi, cellphone covers, stitching chair wire on local trains. They operate on a shoestring budget and make a tiny margin that barely covers their food and housing needs.

We are supporting this people every year from our side. Some of the events are posted below.
